Colombia fines Ecopetrol CEO Ricardo Roa over Petro marketing campaign spending violations

(Bloomberg) – Colombia’s electoral authority fined officers from President Gustavo Petro’s 2022 marketing campaign, together with the present head of the state oil firm, for breaching spending limits.

The Nationwide Electoral Council sanctioned Ecopetrol CEO Ricardo Roa, who managed Petro’s marketing campaign, amongst others, Caracol Radio reported with out saying the way it obtained the knowledge. 

The investigation by the electoral council discovered the marketing campaign overspent by greater than 3.5 billion pesos ($935,000), Caracol mentioned.

Individually, prosecutors are investigating Roa and Petro’s son, Nicolás Petro, over allegations that some marketing campaign funds got here from prison sources.
